Whether they've enjoyed a long and distinguished sporting career or cherished years as a treasured family member, we offer a welcoming haven where they can relax, reconnect with their natural instincts, and receive the respect and attention they deserve.

Our quiet location ensures a peaceful atmosphere far removed from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Lush green paddocks, dotted with mature trees for shade, offer ample space for your horse to graze and socialize with companions in well-managed groups. We believe in the importance of fresh air and sunshine, so our horses enjoy daily turnout, weather permitting, fostering a sense of well-being and promoting natural movement.
First-Class Facilities.
Our spacious, well-ventilated stables, built with your horse's comfort in mind, provide the perfect environment for rest and relaxation. Each stable boasts individual access to a private all-weather turnout area, allowing your horse to enjoy the outdoors even during bad weather. Rubber matting throughout the stables ensures their comfort and safety, and individual monarch partitions offer a sense of security and privacy.
For horses recovering from injury or requiring box rest, a dedicated stable with an adjoining paddock is available. We take pride in maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, with daily mucking out and regular bedding changes ensuring a clean and healthy environment for your horse.
Keeping You Connected.
We understand that distance shouldn't prevent you from staying connected with your beloved companion. That's why we offer a variety of ways to stay updated on your horse's well-being. We provide regular photo and video updates of your horse enjoying their new life at Shadowmere, and you're welcome to visit them at any time. We also offer secure access to our CCTV camera system, allowing you to check in on your horse whenever you wish.
Stabling & Individual Outdoor Area.
Each stable is nestled in our quiet, well-ventilated brick barn and features a spacious 14x14ft indoor area with monarch partitions, rubber matting on floor and walls, and daily cleaning. Bedding is included in the livery package.
An additional stable door to the rear provides easy access to a spacious 14x14ft all-weather turn out. This offers your horse ample fresh air and allows for controlled exercise during box rest.
Each stable features automatic water drinkers with a unique monitoring system, ensuring your horse's adequate hydration.
Light Therapy System.
In our barn, we have a unique lighting system designed to benefit our horses. Research has shown that light therapy can improve their respiratory health, accelerate wound healing, and enhance their alertness and mood. We use different lighting for day and night to regulate their body clock and ensure a peaceful rest. During the evening, our residents are returned to their individual stabling for their evening feeds and a good night's sleep. This routine allows us to administer medications, conduct health checks, and ensure they receive the care they need. In warmer weather, they have the option to return to the field after their evening meals and health checks. This thoughtful approach ensures our residents can rest peacefully and feel safe, allowing them to thrive.
All Weather Turnout.
Our premier 50x30m all-weather arena allows horses to exercise and socialise comfortably year-round. Expertly engineered with sand and rubber for premium drainage, it provides a safe space for horses, including those with laminitis, to move freely. Surrounded by quality fencing, this arena delivers an exceptional experience.
Turnout and Paddocks.
Horses graze in our seven post-and-rail paddocks daily, rotating through verdant, expertly maintained pastures. Specially cultivated low-sugar grasses keep horses healthy while automatic waters and strategically placed field shelters ensure comfort. With premium drainage infrastructure, our grounds remain lush even in adverse weather, for year-round turnout.
Paddocks and CCTV offer full visibility as horses interact in natural herds. An on-call agronomist oversees paddock health while staff poo pick daily, upholding the excellence horses deserve.
